The 1960's Everlasting Impact
Explore the depth of the 1960's through the music stylings of Tammy Wynette, the cinematography of Arthur Penn, and the cultural alterations caused by mod fashion.
My name is Hannah Sumers and I am currently a junior, fashion merchandising major/journalism minor from Katy, TX. Throughout my time at TCU, I have found my focus within the fashion industry morphing in various directions without conscious effort. From the start of the program, I believed a career in publications would suit me best; however, as I have come to learn more about the vast opportunities available within the industry I have realized my career goals within fashion have migrated their way towards sustainably practiced fashion and 'fashion for a cause' businesses. The vastness of the fashion industry lends itself towards the chance for sparking a revolutionary wave in charitable donations while leaving lasting impacts on consumers. I believe the fashion industry is not only a creative outlet for designers, but also for the consumers. The fashion industry is constantly adapting and evolving to society's needs as seen in the styling of modern day and the 1960's. The 1960's encompassed socially defiant minds looking for their purpose and independence, which influenced the free spirit culture.
